Client Overview: DJ Giselle Peppers, a dedicated and passionate artist, approached 1991 Design seeking a fresh perspective on her media kit/deck. Known for her serious commitment to her craft, Giselle desired a representation that would reflect the fun, energetic, and aural elements of her work, as well as the authenticity she brought to her performances.

Discovery and Analysis: During the discovery phase, 1991 Design identified key themes of fun, energy, and aural experience associated with Giselle's work. Despite her serious dedication, her existing media kit had a dark and grungy aesthetic that didn't align with the vibrancy she wanted to convey. The team aimed to redefine the visual representation, focusing on the concept of "aura" and drawing inspiration from spiritual and light work color palettes.
Concept and Design Approach: To capture the essence of Giselle's performances, 1991 Design decided to embrace the concept of "Inner G," a term used by Giselle that phonetically resembles "energy" but holds a double entendre. "Inner G" represented Giselle's alter ego, with 'G' also standing for "gangster." This alter ego was the authentic aura she projected while DJing, allowing her to be true to herself. The design team utilized a variety of colors associated with spiritual and light work to create a visual narrative that conveyed these themes.

Execution: The resulting media kit/deck comprised fewer than 10 pages, each carefully crafted to seamlessly blend the identified themes. The slides incorporated vibrant colors, dynamic graphics, and engaging visuals to capture the energy and authenticity of Giselle's Inner G. The design not only transformed the aesthetic but also provided essential information about Giselle's craft, creating an informative and visually appealing representation of her work.
Outcome: The collaboration between DJ Giselle Peppers and 1991 Design resulted in a media kit that successfully captured the essence of Giselle's brand. The new design reflected her vibrant and energetic style while staying true to the serious dedication she brought to her craft.
